This is the marlin right out of the mold. It needs to be washed with soap and
water to remove any excess mold release attached to the fish. |
Excess material must be cut from the entire edge of the mount.
Grinding down the rest of the excess material is essential for creating a
smooth and even seam.
Once the seams are ground down they filled with a plastic body filler to
ensure a smooth and even seam. |
Excess filer is scraped off. Once this is done it is sanded smooth
and blended in with the rest of the fish. |
Adding the bill is the final step in the building and finishing stage. |
A red finishing putty is applied to air bubbles and sand marks for a smooth finish.
A silver base coat is applied to bring out the beautiful top coat colors. |
Painting different shades of undercoat colors are important steps in creating
accurate top coat colors.
