This is the marlin right out of the mold. It needs to be washed with soap and
water to remove any excess mold release attached to the fish.
Excess material must be cut from the entire edge of the mount.
Grinding down the rest of the excess material is essential for creating a
smooth and even seam.
Once the seams are ground down they filled with a plastic body filler to
ensure a smooth and even seam.
Excess filer is scraped off. Once this is done it is sanded smooth
and blended in with the rest of the fish.
Adding the bill is the final step in the building and finishing stage.
A red finishing putty is applied to air bubbles and sand marks for a smooth finish.
A silver base coat is applied to bring out the beautiful top coat colors.
Painting different shades of undercoat colors are important steps in creating
accurate top coat colors.
